Adam’s Place Announces Camp Cope Peer Support Groups Now Held at Summerlin and Centennial Hills Hospitals
Adam’s Place, a nonprofit children’s bereavement resource for the Las Vegas community and nationally, announces Camp Cope Peer Support Groups will now be held monthly at Summerlin and Centennial Hills hospitals beginning in September. These groups offer support for youth ages 5 – 18 and their parent/caregiver who are coping with loss and grief. The goal of the groups is to help kids connect, reduce feelings of isolation and introduce/reinforce healthy coping mechanisms.
“Adam’s Place has been an advocate in the field of childhood bereavement for 15 years by following best practices and incorporating evidence-based approaches into Camp Cope curriculum and volunteer facilitator training,” noted Kelly Thomas-Boyers, Executive Director of Adam’s Place. “We are grateful for our partnerships with The Valley Health System’s Summerlin Hospital Medical Center and Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center, who have provided resources and space for our programs. We are especially thankful for Summerlin Hospital who has allowed us to relocate our main office to their campus,” continued Thomas-Boyers.
“We would also like to recognize Las Vegas City Councilman Brian Knudsen who has been a long-standing supporter of Camp Cope Programs and who has stepped up to provide sponsorship funds for program materials for Summerlin Camp Cope for the 2024-2025 program year”. “Support from the community is essential for the success of our programs. Thank you to these special partners who are helping to make grief support services available at no cost to local children and families,” added Jacquie MacLeod, Chief Program Officer for Adam’s Place.
