Valley Health System Hospitals Nationally Ranked as High Performing in Five Specialties
The hospitals of The Valley Health System have been nationally ranked as high performing facilities for five different medical conditions by U.S. News and World Report in their 2022-2023 Best Hospitals report. These include:
- Centennial Hills Hospital in the areas of Heart Failure, Stroke and Maternity Care
- Desert Springs Hospital for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and Stroke
- Spring Valley Hospital for Stroke
- Summerlin Hospital for Heart Failure and Stroke
- Valley Hospital for Heart Failure, Stroke and Uterine Cancer
“I’m very proud of our hospital leaders, employees and medical staff who have worked extraordinarily hard over the past several years to continually provide this level of care and expertise to our patients," said Karla Perez, Regional Vice President, Acute Care Division, Universal Health Services, which is the parent company of The Valley Health System. "We are constantly measuring our outcomes, identifying opportunities for improvement and incorporating new practices to provide residents and tourists in our Las Vegas community with the best possible care."
A high performer rating indicates a hospital was significantly better than the national average in a given procedure or condition. The methodology uses objective measures such as survival rates, patient experience and other factors using data provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, American Hospital Association, professional organizations and medical specialists. The Procedures & Conditions ratings are based entirely on objective patient care measures, according to U.S. News & World Report.
Now in its 33rd year, Best Hospitals evaluates about 4,500 hospitals in more than 30 medical and surgical services, including three new cancer ratings: Ovarian Cancer Surgery, Prostate Cancer Surgery and Uterine Cancer Surgery.
