Christine Mikaye, MD

A message from Christine Miyake, MD
Program Director, Emergency Medicine
The Valley Health System GME Consortium

On behalf of our leadership and faculty at Valley Health System, we appreciate your interest in our Emergency Medicine Resident Training Program. We are excited to have this opportunity to train residents to become excellent clinical emergency physicians. Our program takes eight categorical residents each year into our three-year program.

Our accredited residency program offers excellence in teaching and academic standards, a well-balanced and complete curriculum, and a supportive and friendly learning environment. Our energetic faculty will help you prepare for your future in Emergency Medicine, a specialty that is constantly evolving in a very exciting manner. We expect our graduates to be fully prepared to practice in any academic or clinical environment of their choosing. We want them to be the future leaders and educators within our specialty.

Everyone is excited about our program and the possibilities it provides for resident education. We are blessed to utilize several busy emergency departments, each with its own diverse pathology, to provide our residents with opportunities to fully develop their clinical knowledge and skills. Utilizing this clinical environment and our new simulation center, residents will develop mastery of bedside ultrasound and emergent medical procedures. In our didactic curriculum, an emphasis on lifelong learning methods gives our residents the tools to maintain current clinical knowledge for the duration of their careers.

For potential residents, we are looking for individuals who are willing to go beyond their residency training by taking an active role in enhancing our program. We are dedicated to improving the quality of emergency care in southern Nevada, and we want our residents to embrace that role. We expect each resident class to provide us with feedback and constructive criticism as they go through our rotations and curriculum, seeking to improve all educational opportunities and patient care. Therefore, we will consider qualified applicants of all backgrounds, but we are unable to sponsor any visas. We are only taking applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and will be fully participating in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) this year. Please feel free to contact us for any additional application information.

We look forward to meeting with you personally to discuss our exciting residency program.
